ETHICAL WILL

Ethical Will - Your Personal, Treasure of Words to the Next Generation

One of the most valued gifts you can leave your children and family is a personal message about the influences, philosophies, beliefs, and turning points in your life. An ethical or spiritual will is a personal message about why you have lived your life as you have - your hopes and dreams for the next generations. While not legally binding, such a will is commonly used to leave behind a treasure of words, challenges, and memories from an ancestor, in order for future generations to reflect upon their heritage. This video becomes a family heirloom of great worth to many generations in your family and ensures you will not be forgotten.

We recommend an Ethical Will of 10 to 30 minutes.

Our Ethical Will Video includes:
  • Pre-interview preparation
  • Option photos, film clips, and other memorabilia edited into video
  • Musical overlay
  • Comments from family and friends
  • Audio, video, or written material
  • Multiple copies of products to share with family and friends
Service Assistance includes:
  • How to create you own Ethical Will
  • When to create one
  • What to include in an Ethical Will
  • How to write or video your message

Ethical Wills (sometimes referred to as “Spiritual Will”) are part of an ancient trend being rejuvenated. The tradition of passing on beliefs, blessings, and advice to the next generation can be traced back to biblical times. Barry Baines, MD, author of Ethical Wills: Putting Your Values on Paper and creator of www.ethicalwill.com, says the idea of bequeathing your values along with your valuables has so resonated with people that a new industry is springing up around these ideas.

*Ethical and Spiritual Wills are not legal in value, but they create wonderful family treasures and heirlooms.

♦  WORLD WAR II VETERAN STORY

From Generation to Generation is a leading producer in North Carolina of World War II Veteran stories.

Our company, along with over 500 members of the Association of Personal Historians (a nonprofit international organization promoting oral history), has an agreement with the Library of Congress to support their Veterans History Project by recording veterans’ stories which are then archived into its American Folklife Center.

Locally, we are pleased to have recorded the stories of 20 World War II Veterans from Iredell County, NC. These men and women represent some of the best from “the greatest generation ever.”  It has been our honor to share in preserving the wartime stories of these veterans and to place them with the Library of Congress where they will become part of the American story.

Working with our local veterans was deeply personal for David, as his father was a World War II veteran, and his brother is a seven-time decorated Vietnam Veteran, who survived four major campaigns and was injured four times in twelve months.  Because of this, we will continue to partner with the Library of Congress to preserve the stories of veterans of all wars.

If you are a veteran, contact us and let us help you tell your story.  If you have a relative or friend who is a veteran, let us help your veteran enter his/her experience of active service into the historical archives so it can be a part of the American story.

I had heard some of the stories that my dad told but  there were others that were new to  me. I would urge everyone to do this project with their parents and grandparents so the family stories can live on…this was a great project.”
