Meet David Comer, North Carolina’s #1 Biographical Video Historian and a member of The Association of Personal Historians, an international network of skilled professional personal historians, committed to preserving life stories. www.personalhistorians.org. David and Janice Comer, founders of From Generation to Generation, LLC, are passionate about encouraging you to preserve your life story so that your grandchildren will better know who you are and who they came from. Aside from offering video products, David and Janice give lectures and workshops, across the Piedmont area of NC, about the importance of preserving one’s personal history. “Our goal is to help people record life stories—whether on video or with a pen and paper.” As a clergyperson for 40 years, David counseled grieving families and witnessed the unfortunate loss of opportunity for families to capture life stories before it was too late. That is why, in l998, he decided to videotape his parents’ biographical stories. A year later, his father died unexpectedly at age 84, and his mother began to suffer from dementia. Now, David will be able to share his parents’ legacies with grandchildren and great-grandchildren who never got to meet his parents. This incident became David’s inspiration for combining his passion as a personal historian with the technology of digital video to create From Generation to Generation, LLC. Since its formation, From Generation to Generation has expanded to include more than just personal videos. Through the “Last Word” product, you get to share your parting thoughts on DVD at your own memorial service; and through an “Ethical Will” (Spiritual Will), you share your personal values, rather than your valuables, with family. With either one of these options, you can pretty well decide how you want to be remembered. |
